Vegetables and root crops

Vegetables and root crops in the area of Meri-Lappi have grown on clean ground, and their unique flavor has been received from the sun of Northern light. For example carrot, Lapland turnip, onion, garlic, broccoli, kohlrabi, cauliflower, tomato, various lettuces, aromatic herbs, the Lapland Potato and other varieties of potato are produced in the area of Meri-Lappi.

The local potato variety of the North, the Lapland potato, has been grown in Lapland for centuries. The Lapland potato is a very late variety, and in terms of its growth period it is demanding and sensitive. It is the product of an exotic substratum and well-proportioned in the manner of the Lapland's nature in general.

The Lapland Potato has received protected designation of origin (PDO). Protected designation of origin and its symbol indicates that the production, refining and processing of the product is taken place in the region of Lapland.
